Current Activity

Traditional Schooner design (Refer Gallery)

Work is underway on a 60’ Schooner for use by a couple as an offshore and inshore cruising boat. Designed for a pleasing traditional appearance and exceptional social accommodation, this boat will have major appeal particularly in overseas markets.

Work is up to internal fit out level with an intended launch date early 2012

Waiwera Cat (Refer Gallery)

Well on its way to completion with a major internal refit, this fast craft has had a major internal uplift. New galley, helm station and other upgrades have provided this elegant boat with an enhanced appearance and value.

Work has been carried out in conjunction with sister Company Mitchells Joinery Ltd.

Boat Refits

Small to large refurbishments and refit work in our extensive workshop in Silverdale.

Schooners and Skiffs

Mitchells Marine is looking ahead at a perceived trend for craft that are both more traditional in their presentation above decks and much more fuel efficient than current designs.  The days of inefficient hulls and big engines are drawing to a close.

Typical of this is the concept of the power skiff hull which has tremendous application in terms of speed and fuel economy.  This design was well known in the last century for rum running on the North East seaboard of the US in full on competition with the Custom launches.
